Home inventory down, pending sales up, according to NABOR report - Naples Daily News

In the third quarter, homes under $300,000 saw the biggest drop in inventory from 4,657 to 3,572. For the 12 months ending September 2011, all Naples geographic areas showed an increase in pending sales compared to year ago. Properties in the Naples Beach area had 1,776 contracts for the 12 months ending in September, compared to 1,471 contracts for the 12 months ending in September of last year, the report shows. The average number of days a property was on the market decreased 11 percent. This is a sign that banks are willing to work with homeowners. That was up 11 percent from 4,371 condo sales in the previous year, which local Realtors view as another positive sign. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. My take is that NABOR and the NDN don't like the multiple comments by readers who candidly don't buy the tripe handed out by NABOR and the half truths peddeled by it in an effort to bouy up a dead Real Estate market. These posters read more than the headlines, but cull the story and pick up on the cherry picking used to substantiate the same. Similarly, NABOR's percentage hypes fail to detail the specific numbers of sales on which percentages are predicated. In many instances a 30% claimed rise over a prior period may be based on one or two sales which would look dumb if presented to readers that way, but impressive if referenced as a 30% gain. Leave the NABOR press releases up intact together with the comments that put a true perspective on things. Newspapers are supposed to print the truth or is the NDN the exception.
