He also has national certifications in mold and acts as a consultant for Realtors dealing with mold issues in homes. The mortgage brokers don't know what to tell you from one day to the next because their things change and the appraisers get different regulations and rules almost monthly. Everybody is just kind of trying to keep going, but there aren't any set rules for anybody in this business anymore. He discovered that the two areas of the standard Real Estate contract that no one could give him answers on were those dealing with lead-based paint and mold. The law states that any contractor who might disrupt a 6-square-foot area in a house that contains lead-based paint must become certified in how to handle it. While studying the lead-based paint issue, Griffith also began working toward receiving certification on how to handle mold found in homes that are being bought and sold. He now has four national mold certifications and his knowledge is used by those who haven't had the proper training to deal with the issue.
