Missoula Realtors gather shoes, belts, more for students - The Missoulian

And the Missoula Organization of Realtors, and Missoula itself,came through big time with a giant gift of basic necessities forMissoula's students in a fundraising drive over the spring andsummer. The Real Estate agents also rang up $5,700 worth of money forMissoula's schools through its summer charity golf tournament,which in previous years has benefited organizations like Habitatfor Humanity and the Watson Children's Shelter. But the Realtors saw a growing need this year for Missoulafamilies hit by the recession. Of particular need for families are belts and shoes. The latterwas provided in a big way by the Runner's Edge, which donateddozens and dozens of pairs of high-quality athletic shoes forstudents, some of them costing more than $100 a pair. Schools likeFranklin have sometimes loaned the shoes to students during theday. But Missoula kids always need more, and families arethe most important resource.
