Realtors, AWB oppose Eyman's toll measure - The Olympian

He is political editor at The Olympian and can be reached at 360-753-1688 or bshannon@theolympian. It is one of several endorsement announcements recently by business groups. Realtors noted that I-1125 would prohibit use of tolls for road or transit projects other than the highway being tolled. That is a reference to proposals that could toll both State Route 520 and Interstate 90 to help pay for replacement of the 520 floating bridge. First and foremost, Initiative 1183 brings in more revenue for the state and would strengthen enforcement of state liquor laws. It addresses concerns about who sells alcohol, taking into account square footage and restricting sales from corner groceries and convenience stores and makes appropriate provisions for those sales in rural areas where square-footage requirements may not apply. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. They said Tim Eyman’s latest transportation brainchild will actually delay projects and drive up transportation project costs on mega projects that rely on tolling, including the 520 floating bridge replacement. And in the scramble to replace the lost money, other projects around the state would be delayed. Realtors
